Spring Inspiration 2020

It’s March … which means … Hello Spring! Ok so I know it isn’t officially Spring until the 20th but its sooooo close now and I’m ready for a new season. The last couple of months have been a bit miserable in the Fletcher household so I am really hoping that spring … with the reminder that after the dark comes the light … fills us with new happiness and positivity.

The days are getting longer, spring bulbs are peaking though, blossom is slowly appearing and mini eggs are in the shops! I can’t quite bring myself to call it a new start or to surrender whole heartedly but it is time to come out of hibernation and try to find the hope again. Spring has always been my favourite season and this year it feels more poignant than ever. I have slowly been adding a few spring touches to our home and now it’s March it’s officially time to say goodbye to the cosy knit blankets, darker colours, musky scents and replace them pretty flowering bulbs, fresh tones and lighter fragrances.

This spring I would love to add a few more pastel shades to our home (I think I have the blush pink sorted!!) and have been saving my favourite images for inspiration. I am being drawn to the soft blues and greens, they look so pretty against the pink tones and freshen everything up. It is highly unlikely the husband will let me loose with a paintbrush … we’re still in the middle of the hallway redecoration … so I will need to use styling to add in the colour. I’ve shared some gorgeous inspo below along with some accessories I’ve seen. Grab yourself a bag of mini eggs (for colour matching obviously!) and enjoy …

Obviously my first inspiration photo would be pink. You knew that right? Isn’t it a beauty. I love the layering of pink shades; a big yes to pink on pink. Using the same colour but in different tones and textures is a lovely way of adding depth while keeping the styling unfussy. Touches of white and gold add an elegance balance and the plants add life to the scheme.

All the pastel colours, spring planting and a pretty door wreath … what’s not to love?! I planted a few bulbs last year and I have loved watching them grow. I am defiantly planning on planting more this year; I especially want to have some in pots so I can place them by the patio doors so they can be enjoyed from inside also.

If you love pastel colours then you HAVE to follow Rose on Instagram. Her home is beautifully designed with the most gorgeous pastel colour palette. Just look at her cup collection … I don’t drink tea or coffee, would it be weird to start collecting pretty cups that I never use? She also has the pink locker of my dreams (linked here) I seriously need to find a place for one in our home.

A neutral colour scheme, with elegant gold touches, sets the scene perfectly for this drinks cabinet to take centre stage. Look at that beaut of a statement colour!!!! (Can you believe its an Ikea hack!) Spring inspo perfection. I also love that vase, I’ve had my eye on it for a while (linked here) its reeded detail and shape is ideal for spring flowers.

I seriously can’t get enough of that shower tile … be gone beige and grey … yes to mint green all day long. I love how a consistent colour scheme flows throughout the house, every room feels connected yet unique in its own way. It works so well as darker tones are used for contrast; they cut through the pastels beautifully and create a grown up scheme which isn’t too sugary sweet.

Spring touches; proof that you only need few small touches to style for the seasons. I love the soft pinks against the yellow tulips. This is predominately a neutral scheme but all the textures create depth and interest. The texture of the vase works especially well for seasonal styling as it can be used all year round, how you interpret the pattern is led by the flowers.

If you do want to go more permanent with pastel colours then this is how to do it! I mean – WOW. I just love everything about this home … the coloured ceilings, pink fireplace, yellow sofa, the mix of old and new, geometric tiles, the collection of prints … I could go on. It is pastel perfection. We’re currently decorating our hallway and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen those soft pink stairs (seen in the background above the sofa) and dreamed of being brave enough to do it.

Yep its one of my images … sneaking it in … Artwork is a brilliant way to style for the seasons. In the spring and summer I use colourful prints, whereas in autumn and winter I swap them for pretty dried wreathes and artwork with more muted tones.

Pink and green – one of my favourite colour combinations. Can you believe those kitchen cupboards used to be white gloss?! Kelly has completely transformed them and I love the new fresh mint colour, it looks perfect with the soft blush walls and ceiling. The power of paint and colour. If you aren’t as brave with colour then be inspired by Kelly’s living room – white walls (well largely white walls, you can just see the sulking room pink in the mirror reflection) with spring pastel colour added in the styling and upholstery.

My last inspiration photo shows that dark colours are not just for winter, they can still be dressed for spring. That mustard velvet sofa is toooooo dreamy and the same colour combination could be created with cushions and throws, the touch of pink is obviously right up my street.
